Bingo Nights: Fueling Growth Through Community Support –

In March 1976, what is now Inclusion Chilliwack Society was offered the opportunity to run the Knights of Columbus Bingo at Forrester’s Hall on Vedder Road. Every week, a dedicated team of 12 volunteers—including families, board members, and staff—came together to operate the Bingo, creating a lively community event that did far more than entertain.

The significance of this weekly Bingo was profound. It provided a steady source of funding that allowed the organization to extend its reach and increase services. Thanks to these efforts, support expanded to approximately 32 people at the Occupational Centre (now known as REV) and the Woodshop (now OASIS).

This all-volunteer initiative demonstrated the power of community involvement and grassroots fundraising. It was a creative solution that helped sustain programs and improve lives during a time when resources were limited. The Bingo nights remain a memorable chapter in the history of Inclusion Chilliwack Society—a testament to the dedication and ingenuity of those who believed in inclusion.
